Quickly create iTunes Store affiliate links on the iPhone using Launch Center Pro and this tip from David Smith (via Dr. Drang).
Smith shows us that we can create user-friendly iTunes affiliate links by simply appending a bit of code that contains our affiliate ID to the base URL of any app on the App Store. We can simplify this process somewhat, and make it iOS-friendly using Launch Center Pro and a text app that works with LCP. In my case I used Drafts since it has an action to Copy to Clipboard for any snippet.
Create a new Action in LCP, and choose “new Draft” from the Drafts submenu. For the text field, add a “clipboard” input item and the following code, obviously inserting your ID number in the appropriate spot. The final result should look as follows:
[clipboard]&partnerId=30&siteID=YOUR-SITE-ID
Now all you have to do is copy the link to the app you want to link to, run the LCP action, and when it opens the result in Drafts choose the “Copy to Clipboard” action and paste as desired.
Not the most elegant solution since it requires two apps, but there is zero typing, highlighting or anything else.
I think my next task will be to see if I can create something similar for Amazon affiliate links.
