I’m a pretty casual gamer. But I’m pretty hooked on Minecraft. It’s odd, because I don’t play it all that often. The game just has this unique magic about it that draws some of us in. I knew there was something different about Minecraft when I introduced my completely non-gamer brother to it, and he got hooked as well. Neither of us play much, but we reference it and talk about it all the time.

Read my Minecraft overview post to get an idea of why I dig the game.

Follow my intermittent Minecraft Journal. An experiment to use Minecraft as a story generation tool. And an excuse to play Minecraft.

If you are new to the game or have no idea what it is, the Minecraft Experiment series at PC Gamer is a good place to start.

If you’re curious what makes Minecraft so damn compelling (as a lot of us are), read Why Minecraft Works.

I’m running a Minecraft multiplayer server on an older 2008 MacBook 1.83 Core2 Duo with 4GB RAM. It runs pretty good, but can only support a few players at the same time. If you’d like to join us on the server, just let me know.

Check out the current and regularly updated Google map of my Minecraft server generated using Tectonicus.

Some images from my Minecraft multiplayer server. Most of this was built in either Creative Mode or using the WorldEdit mod. Most of it built with the help of my brother and friends.
